Frequently Asked Questions

  • I don't have a boating license. Can I still rent a boat?

    • Yes, you can. If you were born on or before January 1, 1989, you are exempt from the requirement. If you were born after January 1, 1989 and DO NOT already have a Coast Guard certified boating license, you may go to https://www.rentalboatsafety.com/power-boats to watch an orientation video and take a certification test. You will need to provide proof of a passing score on the certification test in order to rent the boat.

  • Are life jackets provided?

    • Life jackets are provided for adults (over 90lbs) only. RENTERS MUST PROVIDE LIFE JACKETS FOR ALL CHILDREN UNDER 90LBS AND UNDER THE AGE OF 13. No lifejackets will be available for children under 90lbs and under the age of 13, so you MUST bring your own.

  • How old do you have to be in order to rent?

    • Renters must be at least 21 years old on the day of their rental.

  • Are pets allowed on the boats?

    • No pets are allowed on the boats.

  • Is gas included?

    • Gas is not included; when you pick the boat up for your rental, it will be full. When you return, you will fill up the boat at the gas docks at Old 76 Harbor or Cypress Bay Marine and Resort, whichever location you picked your boat up from. You will pay for the gas you used then prior to leaving the dock.

  • How much does it cost to reserve a boat?

    • You must pay in full in order to reserve a boat.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    • Cancellations made within 24 hours of rental time forfeit entire fee; cancellations made less than 10 days but more than 24 hours from rental time forfeit $100 of total fee; cancellations made more than 10 days from rental time receive full refund.

  • What is the weather policy?

    • Weather cancellations/reschedules will be decided solely by the owner of Paris Landing Pontoon Rental, normally the morning of the rentals. If it is deemed truly unsafe to be out on the water, PLPR will work with Renters to either reschedule reservations or give prorated refunds.

  • How many people do your boats hold?

    • The Coast Guard plate allows up to 12 people on the boat. You will not be allowed on the boat if your party exceeds that number.
